My
name is Clare and this page is a way for me to chronicle the
journey of home schooling my son Sam and daughter Zoe. It also deals
with the challenges we face with Sam's learning difficulties. Sam was
born with a condition called 22q 11.2 distal deletion syndrome. It is a
complex syndrome and every parent of a 22q child has a different story
to tell. This is mine.
This photo of our family was taken at 22q Day at the Zoo 2014 - Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Brisbane, QLD, Australia. (Back - Clare and Steve. Front - Sam and Zoe.)

The name of my blog comes from a road that I used travel every day when taking Sam and Zoe to school - before we began home schooling. The scenery is beautiful, but the road can be very rough. Every now and then the local council will send a road gang to grade the road and it is smoother...for a while. But, after a bad storm and heavy rain, it's like driving on corrugated iron! The kids and I call it 'The Bumpy Road Way'. I thought it was a perfect metaphor for our life.
